Movie Review: 'The Throne' (2015) is a Cautionary Tale of Unfortunate Parenting

The lives of royalty has been a subject of both admiration and pity for many and tales of tragedy has always gone hand in hand with the people living within the palace walls. None more so than Crown Prince Sado, the misunderstood crown prince of King Yeongjo whose life and death has become a sort of legend. His tragic tale has been inspiration for numerous adaptations. Among them is the 2015 movie Sado also known as The Throne, helmed by Lee Joon-ik returning to sageuk 10 years after the hit The King and the Clown and lead by magnificent performances of Song Kang-ho and Yoo Ah-in as the king and his crown prince respectively.

A Selection of Recent News of Jo Seung-woo

It's time to see what's happening with my favorite ajusshi, Mr. Jo Seung-woo. I feel like it's my unofficial duty to update of his news, although punctuality is not my strongest suit. Nonetheless, all of these are good news (although there is a rather unpleasant one in the near past but let's not dive into the negatives) and some are exciting to say the least. If anything, there's a lot of new very pretty pictures of the man. Ideally, each of these news bit should be its own post during the time it was announced but what has passed has passed. Let's enjoy the pretty anyways.

'Jang Ok-jung' Trailer is Here!

I feel like I haven't posted anything about Yoo Ah-in these past months, and I feel bad. Please forgive me. But this should suffice, hopefully. The longer trailer for the new trailer of Jang Ok-jung! Get excited, guys.

Song Joong-ki, the Man of the Hour

Hot off my Nice Guy high, I've decided to make a whole post about the pivotal actor of the series. Of course none other than Song Joong-ki. He has come far since his debut in the ero-sageuk movie, A Frozen Flower. Only back in 2008. And 4 years later, he has risen as one of the best young Korean actors out there. Here I am today singing high praises for him.

Yoo Ah-in Will Be Back in a Movie as a Gangster

It's been reported that one of my favorite, Mr Yoo Ah-in, is coming back with a movie currently known as Tin Head. It tells a story of a former gangster who goes to find a more morally acceptable job in order to finance his sick mother. It's described as a human story, which basically has your usual moral of the story, triumph, heartache, and all that hotness shifting of hearts.

First Take: BoA's Only One

Kwon BoA, mononymously known simply as BoA, is back. Oftentimes known as the Queen of K-pop, BoA brings back old school sweetness and back to basics music. After almost a year of absence from the cut-throat world of K-pop, she is back with 'Only One', featuring one of my favorites, Yoo Ah-in.

Fantastic First Look at the Return of Geollim

I am so excited to share with you all the news I have right now. Seriously, it's epic. Like beyond what you can imagine. Who do I want to badly pair again since 2010? That's right, Yoo Ah-in and Song Joong-ki who made the cracktastic pair Geollim from the super drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal is back together. OMG!

Recap: Fashion King Episode 6

The circle is complete. If in episode 5 the sparks are just randomly flying, in episode 6 they are officially connected to each other. The relationships are also taken to a new level where not only are they strictly romantic, but are starting to become more business related. When you mix emotions with work, the game starts.

Recap: Fashion King Episode 5

The drama god of love has rolled the dice! All the characters are now intermingled with each other, being cozy and close. Not that cozy and close. But more cozy and close than before. And no crazy family matters this time! Okay, maybe a little crazy. But it's Fashion King so I guess we should expect some craziness. Hell, what am I talking about.

Scandalous Yoo Ah-in and Hyun-ah for High Cut

I'm going to be one of those blogs that have photo shoots now. I've become like this. Oh well, these are pretty hot though. I couldn't pass out. At least one half of so called couple in this photo shoot is hot. And you know who I'm talking about.

Recap: Fashion King Episode 4

We have kick-in-the-face action in this Fashion King universe. Literally! The four characters make their transition from New York City to Seoul in classic drama fashion. Lots of face slapping, heart stabbing, hair grabbing, and tofu eating in this episode. Oh, and a drama kiss you won't want to miss.

Recap: Fashion King Episode 3

Set in the world of fashion, Fashion King attempts to capture what it would be like to play in this worldwide game. I've written my first thoughts on this drama on a first take. This time around, I won't just be first-taking but also recapping. Wish me luck.

Fashion King Hotness on April's Esquire

I think I have to give thanks to Esquire magazine. For their April issue, they brought not only one, but two hot stars of Fashion King. Even though the drama isn't my cup of tea as of the first two episodes, these two men are probably my main reason of treading through the ugly. But hey, if being on a fashion drama is going to get these boys more spreads, then bring it on.

First Take: Fashion King

Finally the first episode of the long awaited Fashion King is out! This is Yoo Ah-in's first drama in two years, since the successful (and crack-tastic) fusion sageuk Sungkyunkwan Scandal. The first episode reeled in a good 10%, while the second slipped to an 8,2% in ratings. A drama filled with fashion and youthful glory, how did this drama fare on its first episode?

Movie Review: Antique (2008)

For the past three days, I've been reviewing movies I've watched recently and  that were released in the past few years. By the past few years I mean in the new decade. Today, I'm going to talk about one of my favorite movies, Antique. This movie was released back in 2008 and has been one of my all-time favorites. The following piece is something that I wrote three years ago for a journal assignment from school. I think the overall writing is okay and still reflects my feelings towards this movie. I can't believe I sent this in to my professors, though. As you can tell it's only a blog-worthy article. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Fashion King in New York and Beyond

Truthfully I have nothing to write today and it's been a week since my last post. Ugh, semester number 6 is really putting a toll on my freedom to enjoy time for myself. Anyways, so it won't be too empty around here, I'm just going to troll you with numerous stills from Fashion King. It's only a matter of weeks until the premiere date and I am getting excited. The plot line is still as unclear as ever, but I guess that won't stop me from watching it. Duh.

Fashion King Officially Kicks Off!

Ah, yes, one of the most anticipated dramas of the year (at least for me), Fashion King, is officially in shooting mode. The four main cast, Yoo Ah-in, Shin Se-kyung, Lee Je-hoon, and Yuri are off to New York City to film their first scene together where, perhaps in a strange de javu moment or something where they all meet in the middle of Times Square as they awkwardly stare at each other reminiscing about the strange past they shared together as the camera spins around them trying to capture that exact moment as each character attempts to put on their most angst-ridden face ever. Ha, I'm just kidding. It may actually be like that but I'll remain doubtful. Someone give me a lollipop if that does come true.

Idol Turned Actor

Ah, the classic idol-turned-actor problem. It's a problem that has left me scratching the ground in horror. It's a freaking epidemic, I would say. Here's the case. Idols are probably the celebrities that garner the most attention in Korea. They are fueled by hormones of adolescents thirsty for love from a pretty stranger they don't even know. This of course has become the main income to many money-hungry people. Putting idols everywhere from every single reality show on TV to every single endorsement on the market is deemed profitable seeing how many people actually love these idols.

'Wandeugi' Punching Its Way to Box-Office Glory

It seems like Yoo Ah-in is fast becoming one of Korea's most valuable young actors as of late. His last year's drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal earned a rightful cult status. Now, his movie Wandeugi is climbing its way into box-office gold. The movie managed to earn top box-office five weeks in a row and quickly becoming one of the biggest hits this year.

Movie Review: Sky and Ocean (2009)

Believe it or not this movie was premiered back in October 2009 and download links were only up just this weekend. How crazy is that? That aside, here's my review on the movie Sky and Ocean. So was it worth the wait?
