Song Joong-ki, the Man of the Hour
Hot off my Nice Guy high, I've decided to make a whole post about the pivotal actor of the series. Of course none other than Song Joong-ki. He has come far since his debut in the ero-sageuk movie, A Frozen Flower. Only back in 2008. And 4 years later, he has risen as one of the best young Korean actors out there. Here I am today singing high praises for him.

Idol Turned Actor

Ah, the classic idol-turned-actor problem. It's a problem that has left me scratching the ground in horror. It's a freaking epidemic, I would say. Here's the case. Idols are probably the celebrities that garner the most attention in Korea. They are fueled by hormones of adolescents thirsty for love from a pretty stranger they don't even know. This of course has become the main income to many money-hungry people. Putting idols everywhere from every single reality show on TV to every single endorsement on the market is deemed profitable seeing how many people actually love these idols.

Mr. Yoo and a Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Quite some time ago, I talked about an up-and-coming actor, Yoo Ah-in. I also talked about the drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal which he starred in and the possible frenzy it will make. Well, Sungkyunkwan Scandal is well over and now we can see what it has become. I said I was going to write about a bit of the lovely SKKS which I loved and Mr. Yoo post SKKS.

You and One
I've been following the Korean entertainment industry for quite a while. Oh, maybe about 2-3 years? I've learned quite a lot of things and understood at least to some degree how things work. Here's a little note of how that happened. About 4 years ago, an Indonesian TV station started to show Korean dramas, pop hits like Full House, Coffee Prince, and Princess Hours. Just recently, the Korean entertainment industry experienced the phenomenon called Boys Over Flowers. It was everywhere. For a moment, housewives who used to watch sinetrons (something like Indonesian soap operas. And yes, with the overall mediocre quality in set, story, and acting) started drooling over the F4 boys. They became the covers of tabloids. Then Boys Over Flowers continued on to more pop hits like Shining Inheritance and You're Beautiful, or so I'm told. I might talk more about this in another post, but this isn't what I came to write about.
